Plan Your Weekend
Activities:
Spend the weekend enjoying the beautiful Black Hills. Centrally located in the Hills, Rapid City is a vacation destination offering a variety of shopping, dining, attractions, and outdoor recration. In downtown Rapid City, you’ll find an abundance of nightlife, great restaurants with local flavor, art galleries, beautiful parks, and shops. Or unwind in the Black Hills, where you can discover Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Crazy Horse Memorial, and Badlands National Park. Drive along the Needles Highway or Spearfish Canyon - rated one of the most scenic highways in the United States. Spend some time in the revived old west town of Keystone, at the foothills of the famous faces, while perusing the town’s charming shops. Or take a 45-minute trip to enjoy food and gambling in the historic town of Deadwood, which was the original wild west town that inspired the HBO television series “Deadwood.” The town was a rough-and-tumble gold camp in 1876, and its spirit was embodied in such indigenous characters as Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, and Seth Bullock. If you would like a guide to organize a tour for you, several tour companies in the region can arrange visits to Mount Rushmore and more for a couple or a busload.
